#7 Eyan Chan
In this episode we speak to Eyan Chan, the founder of Chilli Chan’s, addictive chinese vegan flavour sauces and noodles. Born out of the 2021 COVID lockdown, Eyan's longing for home-cooked meals led her to experiment with her mother's recipes, resulting in her signature crispy chilli oil. After gifting it to friends and family, Eyan decided to turn her passion into a business. We discuss growing up as an Asian immigrant in Australia, finding your community, awkward lunchbox conversations at school, casual racism, the differences between Hong Kong and Taiwanese food styles, the significance of round dining tables, food authenticity and commodification, sauces and spices, and being adaptable.
